Freda’s passion for art started early in the 1960’s in England where she was born. She studied fashion design and illustration and received a diploma from the Bournemouth Municipal College of Art . This was the beginning of her figurative work in watercolour. She worked as a dress designer at a Zurich fashion house for several years. After raising a family in Switzerland she enrolled at the Ottawa School of Art, Canada full-time for four years studying different techniques and media. She became a teacher of watercolour for a further four years at the same school. Then returning to Switzerland in 2000 Freda began working and teaching from her own studio in Martigny. She has also taught at Ecol’art and the Ecole-Club Migros. Freda has given many watercolour workshops in Provence, central France, Greece, and Switzerland from 1996 –2007 and in Venice in 2009. In 2011 Freda has taught on the Cruise Ships Queen Victoria, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth. Freda’s paintings are found in collections in Canada, the U.S., England, and Switzerland. Her achievements include winning an online competition. Her winning artwork ‘Venice Girl’ was exhibited in the Saatchi Gallery, London, England. A painting by Freda and four other Swiss artists was chosen to represent Switzerland in Capetown during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
